Once you’ve created an account with Open Badge Passport, here are the first steps to get started:
- Add a mobile phone number to secure your account and enable account recovery.
- Add an additional email address to ensure you can receive badges issued to any of your email accounts.
- Set your location to personalize your profile.
- Upload a profile photo and configure its visibility settings.
Add a mobile phone number to retreive your account
Take a step towards securing your account. Add your phone number to enable a secondary email address to be added later.
To do this, click on your profile icon at the top right of your screen, then choose 'Settings'. The ‘Account recovery’ section, accessible from the side menu, lets you add your mobile phone number to your Open Badge Passport account. Simply choose your country code from the list or input your number in international format, starting with +.
Add an additional email address to your account
Currently, your account is associated with only one email address. Adding a second email address is essential to maintaining access to your account, especially when you may lose access to your primary email and forget your password. You also may need to add secondary email addresses if issuers use them to send you badges.
To do this, click on your profile icon at the top right of your screen, then choose 'Settings'. The ‘Email addresses’ section, accessible from the side menu, lets you add one or more other addresses to your Open Badge Passport account.
Enter the address you wish to add and click on the ‘Add’ button. A verification message will be sent to this address. Use the link provided to validate it. It will then appear as ‘Verified’ in your Open Badge Passport account.
Repeat the same operation for each new address. NB! Note that all badges issued to you at these different addresses will be automatically centralised in your Open Badge Passport account.
Set your location
Defining your geolocation allows other users (and more widely the public who are not Open Badge Passport users) to find you on a map of badges. That's why it's useful (and important) to geolocate yourself in your account.
To do this, click on your profile icon at the top right of your screen, then choose 'Settings'. The ‘Account settings’ section, accessible from the side menu, lets you define your geolocation.
Add a photo to your profile and define its visibility
To add a photo to your profile, follow the steps below.
1. Select 'Profile' and click on 'Edit Profile'
2. Upload a picture, Select it and Save it
3. From the ‘Settings’ tab, set your visibility to ‘Public’.
Don't forget to Save your changes (or Save and Close if you've finished modifying your profile).
NB! You can, of course, change all the parameters you have just set at any time. But these are important if you want to exploit the full potential of your badges.
